Series 7 Reception Chair design Arne Jacobsen stackable - gray wood / chrome four-leg
3 in stock
The Series 7 Chair (model 3107), designed by Arne Jacobsen in 1955 for Fritz Hansen, is an icon of Scandinavian modernism. Due to the flowing, symmetrical contours of the seat shell, the model is often informally referred to as the “Butterfly”, a reference to its light, wing-like form that feels both graphic and organic.
The design builds upon Jacobsen’s experiments with molded laminated veneer, a technique that combines structural strength with visual lightness. The shell subtly supports the body without relying on heavy upholstery or unnecessary detailing. The slender metal legs reinforce the chair’s clear silhouette and make it suitable for a wide range of settings, from residential interiors to reception and meeting spaces.
As a representative of Scandinavian Modern, the Series 7 combines industrial innovation with a restrained formal language and carefully balanced proportions. The result is a chair that remains timeless through its simplicity, mastery of material and natural presence within an architectural context.
